If you ever make it to New Zealand, I really recommend staying at holiday homes rather than a hostel or a hotel. These turned out to be some of the most memorable parts of my trip- the kind hosts, the hearty homes, the blissful and relaxing surroundings. Pros and Cons About Cruising

Cruising used to be a type of holiday that only the super-wealthy can afford (think back to Titanic), but nowadays, even a thrifty uni student like me can happily go on one. Over the past few years or so, I’ve been on a couple of cruises- one for 10 nights to Vanuatu and New Caledonia, one for 14 nights to New Zealand, and one for 6 nights to Tasmania and Victoria. And while I always come back from cruises with an ambivalent feeling, I’ve just booked myself and a friend for another one to Vanuatu and New Caledonia next February. High Tea at Chateau Tongariro Hotel

Having never had the extravagant high tea experience before, when I recently went to Tongariro National Park with 3 others as part of our 10-day road-trip around New Zealand’s North Island, I knew I had to tick another thing off my bucket list. Chateau Tongariro Hotel is the hotel that’s ALWAYS in photographs of this National Park, as it’s just nestled below the three mountains of Tongariro National Park with stunning mountain backdrops of Mount Ngauruhoe, Mount Tongariro and Mount Ruapehu.
